Yoon Seul / 2019
Basic Conditions for Yoonseul
'Light, wind, and thousands of undulating waves.'
During the years 2018 to 2020, when I settled in the tranquil village of Goheung, right by the sea, I witnessed Yoonseul every day. The sunlight and the wind, ever-changing, transformed the sparkle on the waves. There were days when the sun reflected in the waves was dazzling, and other days when tiny particles, like gold dust mixed in the sandy beach, shimmered delicately. The waves created a glimmer, repeatedly breaking and cascading down.
Even in a trance, gazing for a while, it was beautiful.
I began to collect Yoonseul, wanting to work with the gathered droplets. In 2019, I held an exhibition titled 'Encountering Light Outside.'
Wanting to enjoy Yoonseul, I created a book, letting the wind blow through.
As thousands of pages turn, the waves break again.
